Downers Grove Dragons Join Downers Grove Youth Baseball

The Downers Grove-based DG Dragons travel baseball program will join the DGYB Travel League for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

Chris Dunn, Chairman of DGYB, indicated that this additional DGYB offering will help meet current DGYB goals:

1)Ensure that DGYB is the preferred destination for Downers Grove baseball players

2)Create a complete range of options for players for their development and enjoyment

3)Build a roadmap of options for youth players to play within DGYB as long as they want to play baseball

The DG Dragons have operated successfully for ten years and are led by founder Dan O’Connell. Dan will become an Executive Board Member on the DGYB Travel League Board. The DG Dragons will continue to operate as its’s own independent entity and brand within the guidelines and policies of DGYB. Longshots Baseball, the existing program in the DGYB Travel League, will continue to operate independently as well.

Rob Rooney, DGYB Travel League President, believes this addition to the League will allow for a complete range of offering to players and teams looking to play quality travel baseball. “The DG Dragons program is highly aligned with DGYB values and purpose. Where both Longshots Baseball and DG Dragons will continue work independently, there are a number of leverageable opportunities to build on to offer a premier travel experience to DG players.”

DGYB Leagues include Developmental (6-8), Youth (9-12), Babe Ruth (13-16), and Travel (9-18). DGYB also offers an umpire program and a Fall baseball program.
